It’s a brave call to launch an airline in the middle of a pandemic but that hasn’t stopped Breeze Airways from getting off the ground.
Originally named as Moxy Airways, the airline was established in 2018 with a plan to begin operations in 2020 through a planned acquisition of Compass Airways. The acquisition did not proceed and the launch was pushed back to 2021.
The airline received its operator’s certificate on May 14, 2021 and commenced selling tickets the following week.
Breeze intends to offer capacity in smaller airports with point to point services between secondary airports bypassing hubs to allow for shorter travel times. Breeze has also expressed an intention to offer international services to South America and Europe.
